Wall Street Journal reports that VW is considering adding Audi to the production capabilities of the VW production facility in Chatanooga, TN.

Audi CEO reports that the automaker is "studying the business case" for creating a facility to take advantage of  lower cost production in  North American Market.  The weaker dollar, combined with VW's lower wage rates ($14.50 per hour versus about $28 for Toyota and other foreign makes wages in the U.S.) may make for a compelling case.  They are considering exporting back to Europe, Audi and VW models produced here.

All of this is working towards VW's stated goal of becoming the world's largest manufacturer.

(BTW...the Audi TT-RS is already being produced outside of Germany...in Hungary!).

Yikes on Hungary...this should be a German-Only car. I am all about "made in USA", but I think there is something valuable about a German car being made in Germany...it is part of the 'tribe'
