Battery just died on a '08 Carrera.   Will they give me a hard time or cover under warranty?

I have heard some complaints saying this is discretionary....if the car sits they won't cover.  Mine is a daily driver so that should not be an issue.

Shouldn't be an issue. I had an '07 911 Turbo and took it in for battery warranty within about the same time that you have had that car. I only drove the car about 100 miles a month so it was sitting in between drives. If they give you a hard time talk to a manager and keep going up the chain.....

Cool ride.
Thanks!
Yep...I took it in to dealer. They DID ask how much it was driven, but after that replaced the battery, gave it a wash, checked out the car for current codes and provided a great cup of Keurig coffee while I waited.

BTW..this is the first failure of ANY kind I have had on this, my 2nd Porsche. Astounding build quality.
Wow. I want your dealership. Thats great that they give your car a scrub.....and a cup of good coffee. Impressive. Thanks for this post too...I was having a similar question.
I never have had a battery issue.....but other Porsche guys have reported that dealership took care of theirs without a problem. And on older ones, while they could not find a "direct OEM replacement" you could find one with the same or better amp hours and a size that fits at Pep Boys.
BTW...Winter is HERE in Wisconsin. I am trying out a "Battery Tender" for the first time this year.
Simple device that will not over charge the battery.

Replying to myself...how boring is that?  Anyhoo...the battery tender is working great.  Baby is not going out in this weather.  I, of course, am a stellar steerer of the white steed in the ice and snow, but not so for my fellow winter warriors.  I don't want some monster SUV sliding into me from any angle.

Now that we are in March, just curious on the Battery Tender product, is it designed to keep the battery warm? Did you survive the wicked weather?

I grew up in Iowa and remember as a kid my dad plugging in the car to keep the block from freezing. And they asked why did you move to California. Well. That's a good enough reason for me.

Does not keep battery noticeably warm...but works great at keeping it charged, but not overcharged.    Way different than just leaving a battery charger constantly plugged in....something I have tried before.

Currently off the Porsche but working great on motorcyle.....where it originally came into use.
