Should I just buy cheapo set from Costco, or buy fewer tools and get Craftsman with a lifetime warranty?
I am not a major do it my self person...but I can do minor maintenance tasks.

It is NEVER money mis spent to buy quality tools. They will last a lifetime, and working with a quality ratchet, hammer, or even simple screwdriver is completely different experience with a good tool versus something out of the $1 bin at home depot.
You may still want to buy a fairly complete set to get you started from Costco...but start collecting good set one at a time.
Craftsmen is fine, Snap-On and pro tools are wonderful.

Permalink Reply by ChrisZ on April 1, 2011 at 1:08pm I have destroyed Craftsman tools recently. Snap On, I have never thought was worth the expense. However I have a Matco collection these are pro tools and very expensive. I have never busted one. Even reinvented a few wrenches for some weird places.
I can say that the tools you can get at harbor freight are cheap, and made in China, I have some, they sort of hold up. But if you are not going to do heavy work all the time. A nice Craftsman set should do you good.
