Old Bike, Old Boy, Great Sons. What a story about a Norton 750 Commando brought back from the brink!

O.K.  This story grabbed me on several levels.

  • What a great project for two brothers to work on together for their Dad.
  • The Norton Commando in black as pictured was absolutely my dream bike back in the day...(well..my dream bike had slightly different forks, but other than that small detail, this is the bike!)
  • I just finished a motorcycle trip down the California coast with my son.  Hearing him describe it as "an Epic trip" to his friends may have been the…

The Top 10 Most-Stolen Cars

Curious which cars are among the most stolen out there?  It might just change your purchasing behavior, or at least get you to buy full coverage insurance!!

The first time since 2002 SIX of the top ten most stolen vehicles were domestic brands.  Yikes, not good!  Ford was the winner at taking three top spots, then Dodge then Chevy.

But for those of you who are 100% American made fans, don't worry - the top spot is still foreign...and that is the 1994 Honda…

BMW vs Mercedes and.....Hyundai?

I had a BMW drive event at a dealership yesterday...  BMW is hosting these across the USA and contributing to the US Olympic team for every consumer that shows up to test the BMW cars.  In addition to their own line, they offer up a couple of Mercedes models that they view as direct competitors to the BMW 5 and 7 series.

I was scheduled to test a 6 convertible, but they offered to let me try out 3 or 4 different cars.

First up was the 2011 550i with its 402hp…

Carmageddon ends, sadly, and without so much as a wimper.

I know that all of the readers here in soCal have been up in arms over the closure of the 405, otherwise known as "Carmageddon" The "carpocalypse" and other end-times-centric lingo, but it appears that either all of the preparation and warning by Cal-trans and the state, and especially one Mr. Erik Estrada have paid off. Not a single segment of society slid into anarchy during the closure of this 10 mile road closure through one of the busiest transportation arteries in the country. Chaos…

New Season of Top Gear

Hey you Stig-wanabes!! I know that you are probably getting sick of watching Jeremy Clarkson and company in seemingly eternal reruns of Top Gear, but there isn't much any of us Petrol Head Colonials can do about it but wait. Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster Premiere Video

This is just a great looking car.  Looooong hood, two seater, and now with a convertible top (but missing the uber-cool gull wing doors of the regular SLS), the SLS is on my short list for dream auto's.

Mercedes released this short video of the new 563hp car scheduled for 2012 model release.  0-60 is quoted at 3.7, with a top speed of 197mph.  Honestly though, dontchathink this car is mostly about the look?  It IS great that it is backed up by some major oomph in the getgo…

What the Hell is E-85?

Recently I found myself living with a rental car for a day or so. Nothing interesting there, except for the fact that this car was flex/fuel capable. If you spend anytime at all considering the price of gas and find yourself wondering if there is anything you can do about it besides just bending over and taking it, I have some good news for you, sort of. Ethanol is back! What does that mean? It means that the engine is capable of running on wither regular,…

At the risk of bringing down the wrath of the secret Service, I have discovered the secret of stopping the presidential Limo. What horrible information am I about to unleash on an unsuspecting world? What manner of weapon could cause the presidential limo, "The Beast' a car famous for being almost impervious.  After his recent Visit to Ireland, the presidents limo "the Beast" was stopped dead in it's tracks by..a speed bump.
