Feds float proposal to Tax drivers by the mile.

Hello everyone. I just saw an interesting article on MSN.com about a plan being proposed by the Fed to start charging a tax that charges drivers by the mile. This is a tax that is already in place and paid every time you purchase a gallon of fuel.  Check out the article before you take my word on it.

Just another thought on all of this. If you are reading this from someplace outside of the United States, please realize that with only a few exceptions, the majority of the United States does not have reliable, timely or efficient public transportation. If we did, this might not be such a horrible proposition. If this passes, it will have a huge negative affect on the economy and  more directly, on your wallet. Make your local congress representative work for a change. This is not a matter of party loyalties, call them and see where they stand on this issue, If they support it, voice your opposition.

I also saw something about that.  Crazy.   They can effectively and more easily accomplish this by taxing gasoline. (No...I am not advocating higher taxes...but if they have to raise the revenue ...well.)   Why institute a completely additional agency and method to accomplish something that can be done with existing system.   More $$ per gallon  divided by more miles-to-the-gallon will distribute this burden in just about the same way, without all the overhead.
