300,000 miles (482,700 kilometers) on a 1990 Audi 100

There are not too many cars that reach 300,000 miles; here's a brief video of the odometer turning from 299,999 miles to 300,000 plus a quick look at the goo...

Great that you captured the moment though.  Did you see the article someone posted on here about the guy who drove the ford for a million miles?

Hey, at least I wasn't texting!  ha ha...  I have also "filmed and driven" extensively in Europe (try it on the Autobahn at 100 mph!).

Yeah, back in the 1970's, I had 2 Audi's (a '72 100LS and a '73 100GL) and I don't think any of them ever made it past 100K (usually Michigan's salted winter roads did them in well before then), but these days most cars are just getting "broken in" at 100K!    200K should be doable with most cars if you try, but beyond that it gets trickier (and much more $$$ to keep a car running).

Biggest problem with a 22-year old Audi seems availability of parts (at least here in the USA); sourcing them from Germany would be a hassle....   I think it would be a lot easier to find parts for older BMW and Mercedes than for Audi...

The car turned 300,000 miles in Sept. 2009, it turned 310,686 miles (= 1/2 million kilometers) on December 31, 2010, it now has over 312,700 on it ...

Yes, I do have some short vidoes driving 93 - 102 miles per hour on the Autobahn last year.  Since I was driving and filming, the segments are short, but there are shots of the speedometer.

The car I was driving:

Citroen C5 with a 1.9 liter Diesel engine.   I had it up to about 125 mph on some segments of the Autobahn.  At "normal" Autobahn speeds (ie: 80 - 100 mph) the car would get about 32 mpg!   In Switzerland, with combination freeway (70 mph) and mountain (35 - 45 mph) driving, I got a whopping 43 miles per gallon!   In a mid-size sedan (similar to an Audi A4).

The fuel range on this car was an astonishing 720 miles (over 1,160 kilometers).

I've edited a quick video and will upload it to YouTube shortly  and then post the link on this site!

Old cars/Old Guys rule!      Remember, it "aint the years, it's the miles!"
